Redrock

Joe and Amy Shay, who I consider among the best of my former friends who I love dearly – and I got to spend a great deal of time hanging out at the Red Rock Casino in Summerlin.

Ya win some/ya lose some, but what I love about the place is it’s a class act. It’s beautiful interior is a little cold at times, but that’s what makes it beautiful and workable – it can use a touch of me.

Now what’s magnificent about the place was – construction was halted on the ‘backlot’ – the plan WAS to build a bunch of stores and shopping, but I often told Joe and Amy – wouldn’t that make a magnificent ‘magic’ based park, much like Harry Potter’s world, only – featuring work from area artisans much like Sedona does.

The beauty about this place’s location is it’s off strip far enough to ‘feel like a private resort’, and has fantastic views over Las Vegas. And while I have never stayed in this particular resort, I can imagine the views would be amazing because of it’s elevation – which is about 750 feet up the side of the hill.

And what I love about this ‘location’ is it’s proximity to skiing.

A 30 minute drive WITHOUT battling traffic!

In any case, I just added it to my portfolio, an acquisition form the Maloof Brothers who couldn’t make this one ‘fit’ into their portfolio because it was just too different than the rest of their casinos with their heavy focus on gambling, where the Red Rock is a much more all around family AND singles friendly environment.

Here’s the official documents.
